DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning following a light to
moderate trade in the North yesterday with dressed business marked at mostly
$192, $4 lower than last week's weighted average basis Nebraska. In the
South only a light scattered live trade was reported at $118 to $119, $1 to
$2 lower than Wednesday trade. Week to date trade volume totals are rather
light so it is possible that we may see a little more trade at some point
today, but it is very likely that the bulk of business is essentially done
for the week. Asking prices for cattle left on showlists are around $121 in
Kansas and Texas and $194 in Nebraska and Iowa. Beef cutouts are expected to
be higher with light to moderate box movement.
NOTE: Feedlots are encouraged to call DTN with any cattle sales, at
1-800-369-7675, ext. 3678. All sales will be listed anonymously and
organized by state. All live sales are FOB and set for 1-9 day delivery.
General trends and summaries from this data will also be posted on the Daily
Sales Reported to DTN page.
